Stop! This 98" PRIME STEAL is $1,900

summarized

TLDR

The TCL 98-inch QM7K TV is on a Prime Day deal for about $1,900, which is $300 less than what the host paid. It supports 144 Hz variable refresh rate for gaming, doesn't require an internet connection or account sign-in, and delivers near-perfect picture quality with only two settings adjustments. The main flaw is significant glare and reflection, especially in bright rooms.

Key points

  • The TCL 98-inch QM7K is the best Prime Day deal the host found, at about $1,900.
  • The TV supports 144 Hz true variable refresh rate, making it great for gaming.
  • No internet connection or account sign-in is required; all settings can be adjusted offline.
  • Only two settings need to be changed to achieve near-perfect picture quality.
  • The glossy finish provides excellent picture clarity at night but causes substantial glare in bright rooms.
  • The TV is heavy (120 lbs out of the box, 200 lbs in the box) and requires at least two people to set up.
  • The host plans to build a Steam OS box and feature the TV in an upcoming build video.
  • The deal is only available for about 2 more days.

There is exactly one deal this Prime Day that has me actually really excited and it is not even a deal I can get myself. But I wanted to share this deal with you because I have really enjoyed my TCL 98-in QM7K and it has some great features that I think you definitely would want to consider if you are looking at it for doing things like gaming or using it as a monitor. And especially if you don't like to have your TV connected directly to the internet, maybe you're using a shield like I am or maybe you're about to build yourself a pretty cool Steam OS box like I am, this is a great TV for this because it doesn't have to be connected to the internet. No account sign-in, right now not connected to the internet and it still allowed me to adjust all of the settings that I needed to to get great picture quality out of it. That's a whopping two settings that you need to achieve almost perfect picture quality off this TV. That is impressive. At 98-in from our 12-ft seating distance is an amazing presentation piece. It is literally like having a real theater for the first time in our house and we've had the Atmos, we've had the setup for the audio for some time but this TV has absolutely changed the game and it's just the size of it. So being able to hit 144 true variable refresh rate on this definitely is something cool at $300 less than what I paid for it is actually probably the best deal that I saw. I've looked at all the computer stuff, I've looked at all the RAM stuff, I've looked at all the depressing storage stuff on NVMe. None of it looked good. This deal, however, though for almost $1,900 is absolutely good. Like all TVs, there's of course got to be one thing that is a flaw and on this one it is definitely the glare and reflection that you get on it. In Central Texas, that's quite substantial. Granted, we've got some blackout curtains on the way. We'll put a link to those also in the description below. Now, we did check out the QM6K which is a matte finish and it is absolutely much less reflective. The QM7K, however though, because of its very nice glossy finish, does definitely have amazing picture clarity when we're viewing it at night, which is typically when we are viewing it the most. But, like I mentioned, blinds probably figure that out. We're just using IKEA Kallax's to stack it on, which is totally viable to do, making it a two-person job and not requiring professional installation. Although, at 120 lb, you definitely have to have two people to even get it out of the box. I think the box is actually like 200 lb until you get it out. So, definitely a two-person, possibly three-person job if you were going to mount it on the wall. They just launched their new lineup, so the prices on these, as they're trying to push them out the door, are a really good deal. So, check out the link in the description below. We are working on a Steam OS build video that will actually probably hopefully kick some serious ass, and it'll be featuring this television. We've got a lot to figure out though. Like, we actually tried today for about an hour to figure out how to turn this on and have me stand beside it, and the brightness of that just it it's like impossible almost. So, there's a lot of challenging things around filming yourself and a television, but man, this is going to be sweet. And we are going to figure those things out. But, I think the deal on this is only for another 2 days or so, so you might want to jump on that if you're thinking about it. We'll definitely be featuring this TV, and if the price is higher, well, at least I warned you. So, this is Digital Spaceport signing out. Like I mentioned, you can check out the link in the description below.
