Everyone's talking about Hermes Agent, and you've probably seen it everywhere. Now, I've been playing with it for the past few weeks, and I spent hundreds of hours testing it, and honestly, it's been quite mind-blowing in what it's able to do for me. So, in this video, I'm going to show you some of those things that I've been using Hermes for. This won't be a super technical breakdown of what Hermes Agent is, but I'm going to focus on the practical use cases, so you can see if Hermes can actually help you be more productive and make more money. But of course, I'm also going to show you how to easily set this up in under 2 minutes, and how to connect Hermes with WhatsApp or Telegram, so you can talk to it even when you're out at the gym or even going on a holiday. But first, for those of you who are not familiar, what is even Hermes? Now, I think the simplest way to describe it is that Hermes is an AI personal assistant that runs 24/7 and never sleeps. Now, if you've been using ChatGPT Codex or Claude Code, you're probably wondering, "How is this any different?" And I think the easiest way to think about this is that Claude Code or Codex is a coding agent, right? It helps you build something. Let's say you want to build an app or you want to build a website. You are prompting it, you are in the driver's seat, and you get a result, right? Now, Hermes can also build apps, but it's specifically designed to be an AI agent or a personal assistant. And it's got something special called a persistent memory system, so the more you use it, the better it actually knows you, and it remembers your preferences. Just like if you had a personal assistant, right? So, let's say you've been working with this person for a while, and you know, he or she would know the way that you like things done, right? Let's say you're traveling, what kind of airline you like to go with, what time of the day that you prefer flying, or the hotels that you like to stay at, right? So, the longer you work together, the more the assistant knows you, right? And that's the same like Hermes, the more you use it, the better it knows you. So, for me, it doesn't replace Claude Code or Codex, but I'm actually using it alongside those tools to run my business. And you're going to see how I use both tools when I get to the use cases. Now, before I get to the use cases, you got to understand the three things that makes Hermes so powerful. And number one is its persistent memory. I think this is one of the core features of Hermes. Basically, the more that you use Hermes, the more it knows about you, the better it becomes, right? So, for example, let's say I run a YouTube channel and I want to write a script. Of course, I can already write a script on ChatGPT or Claude, but the annoying part is that the next time you come back and you ask it to do the same thing, it kind of forgets everything, right? You got to start over. But with Hermes, it actually remembers everything that you've done with it previously. You don't even have to ask, right? And what's crazy is that if you're asking it to do something that it's never done before, it will learn how to do it and automatically save that as a skill, all right? So, the next time you ask it to do the same thing again, it already knows exactly how to do it. And more importantly, how you like to do it. And I think that's exactly what I would expect from a human assistant, right? Cuz it's kind of annoying if you need to really explain yourself every single time. Now, the second thing that I really like, and actually what drew me to Hermes, is that the ability to chat with it via WhatsApp or Telegram. And I think this is the part where it really makes you feel like you have an actual assistant. So, you could be traveling, be in the gym, you could be on a train, or you're having lunch with your friends. You can just take out your phone and you can message it from the app that you're already using like WhatsApp or Telegram, right? Just like how you would chat with a friend, right? I'm going to show you how to set this up later in the video. And the third one is cron jobs. Now, I know this term sounds technical, but a cron job is basically a scheduled task, right? So, let's say every morning you want Hermes to check your email and give you a summary of the most important things that you need to reply first, or you want a morning brief of your most important task. You can set it up as a cron job or a routine schedule. All right, so all of this sounds good and now you want to give it a try. So, where do you install Hermes agent? So, you have three different options and I'm going to give you the pros and cons of each one, all right? So, the first one is doing it locally, all right? This means that you're just installing Hermes on your laptop that you use every day. Now, obviously the upside here is that it's free, right? You already own your laptop, but the downside is that it is going to take some space and memory out of your laptop. Cuz if you have some multiple tasks running, it is going to take some memory out of your laptop and depending on how powerful your laptop is, it can affect the performance. Now, because it lives on your personal computer, it has access to everything on your computer, right? It can write files, it can basically do anything that's on your computer that it has access to, right? So, if you want to put some limitation and you don't want this AI to know every single thing about you, that's something you want to think about. And I think the second downside here is that if you want this agent to work 24/7, you want a machine that's on 24/7, right? And the moment you close your laptop, the agent stops working. Now, the second option is to install on separate device, like a Mac Mini or a spare laptop that you have. And obviously, because it's on a separate machine, it only has access to the things that you want it to have access to, right? But the downside is that not everybody has spare laptop or maybe you don't want to spend a couple hundred dollars to buy a Mac Mini just to try it out. So, I think the more balanced or sweet spot here is installing Hermes on a VPS. Now, VPS stands for virtual private server and it's basically a computer that lives in the cloud and you're basically renting a space with a company to use that space and you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to buy a new computer. So, if you're just trying this out, I think this is a great option cuz it's only a couple dollars a month. So, this is the one that we're going to use and I'm going to show you exactly how to set it up in under 2 minutes. Now, if you guys already have Hermes installed on your machine and you want to skip the setup process, I'm going to have timestamps in this video so you can jump to the use cases. Now, for the VPS, we're going to use Hostinger who is kindly sponsoring this video. I've actually been using Hostinger for a long time. I've built more than 10 websites that I've hosted on Hostinger and I'll be using this anyway cuz I think this is one of the easiest options and cheapest option to set up Hermes on a VPS. Now, to get started, I've actually provided a link to this page and with that link, you actually get an extra 10% on top of the 66% off that you have here. So, click on get started and you'll be presented with two options here. So, you have managed Hermes agent or you have Hermes agent on VPS. Now, Hostinger actually made it really easy to install Hermes. So, you if you don't want to deal with the terminal, you actually want to go with the managed Hermes agent cuz this is the option that will get you set up in under 2 minutes. And I'm just going to choose this one here. And then you'll arrive on this page where you can actually pick the period here. Now, you can obviously try 1 month or 12 months. But for me, even if I was just trying this out, I would actually pick 12 months cuz I get the biggest discount here. And for any reason, if you want to cancel or it doesn't work out for you, they do have a 30-day money-back guarantee so you can get a full refund. Now, before you check out, if you guys use my coupon code Jason Lee 10, you'll actually get an additional 10% off the entire plan. So, it's actually even cheaper. Now, you want to hit continue and then you want to log in and complete your payment. And once you're done, you're going to select your AI provider. Now, for this one, I'm just going to hit next because I can actually choose this later. And then it's just going to take a couple of seconds to set everything up. All right. Now, that is done. Now, you want to choose the AI model that will power your Hermes agent. So, you can select from any of these models here. Now, if you have a Claude subscription, you can't use that. If you want to use any of the Claude models, you actually have to top up your API credits and use it that way. But for me, I've been using GPT 5.5 to power my Hermes agent. And with OpenAI, they actually allow you to use your monthly subscription, either you're on the Pro plan or the Max plan. So, I'm going to pick GPT 5.5 for this one. Hit continue. Now, this is the time when you want to connect your Telegram. Now, previously, you had to go to the terminal to set everything up to connect to Telegram. But because you have the managed Hermes plan with Hostinger, they actually made it really, really easy to set everything up so you never actually have to go to the terminal. Now, there's a lot of ways that you can communicate with your Hermes agent. You can do it through Telegram, iMessage, Discord, but I think that Telegram is the easiest and it's the one that I already use. So, I'm going to connect to my Telegram. So, in Telegram, you simply want to search for this account here called BotFather, and I have it here already. And you want to click start, and you want to type in new bot. So, we're just following instructions here. How are you going to call it? I'm just going to call it max1234. You can change it later. And then, you want to pick a username for your bot as well. All right, so I finally found a name that I can use, and I'm just going to delete this after the video cuz this is just for an example. Paste it here, hit next, and then you also want to enter your Telegram user ID. So, this is basically your Telegram account. So, I'm going to paste my ID here, and then hit connect. And then, you're connected. And that's it, you're done. So, now your Hermes agent is set up, and you can click on open app here. And now, you're in the Hermes web UI here, and now you can start messaging Hermes. Now, I'm not going to go through the functions of the platform here cuz we're going to chat with it from our Telegram. And I'm going to test if this works, right? So, I'm going to go back to Bot Father here, and I'm going to click on this bot that we just created. And I'm just going to type in hello to see if everything's connected, right? So, it's typing here. There you go. I'm Hermes agent, your AI assistant here in Telegram. All right, perfect. So, just to make sure that this is the correct Hermes agent that we set up, I can easily say, "Uh what AI model are you using?" And then, it should say GPT 5.5 set up initially. There you go. So, we're good. I think we're connected to the right account. Now, I can go and show you what all these features are, but it's going to be too technical, and I think it's going to be boring. But instead, I want to actually show you what I've been using Hermes for, and I think that's going to be a lot more practical. Now, everyone will have a different use case, but here's how I've been using it. All right, so the first one here is I think the simplest one. I think a lot of you guys can relate to this. Basically, this is a dashboard that I built with Hermes to track my business expenses. So, you know how annoying it is to manage your receipts when you're outside, maybe you're traveling, you're having a meal with a client, and you have a receipt, right, from the restaurant. So, you got to keep track of the receipt for accounting purposes. And before Hermes, I had to take a manual photo of the receipt, and I got to remember to log it to my accounting software to keep track of it, right? I I used to do this all manually. But now, whenever I get a receipt, I just take a photo of it and send it via Telegram to my Hermes agent. And it's going to be able to read the receipt and categorize everything correctly into this dashboard here that I created. And not only that, but I've also connected Hermes to my accounting software, Xero. And every time I send it a receipt, it actually categorizes that expense accordingly. So, I never have to do anything manually. So, anytime I can come back to the dashboard here, and I can see how much I spent this month or last month or the entire 3 months. And I can also see the breakdown of things that I spent for the business, and I can see every single transaction here. Now, the nice thing about using Hermes for this is that not only it will log things for you, but you can also ask it questions just like if you had an assistant, right? So, for example, if you want to know how much you spent on business meals this month so far, right? You don't even have to go to the dashboard to figure it out. You can just type in in your Telegram and ask it, "Hey, how much did I spend on business meals so far this month?" And it will give you that answer. But instead of typing that in, let's say you're walking, you don't feel like typing, I can just record myself here, and I can send this as a voice note. So, I can say something like, "Hey, how much did I spend on business meals so far this month?" And it can actually understand your speech, and it can actually listen and transcribe the voice note, and give you a response. There you go. So, it actually went to the dashboard here and figured out how much I spent on business meals this month, and just quick breakdown, and the biggest expense was Nopur here. How crazy is that? So, this is exactly how I would do things if I had a personal assistant. I just type in questions, and I get an answer. Now, let's take it up one level, and I think you're going to love the next idea here, especially if you are into web coding and you're trying to get into the app building space. So, I have a dashboard here that I created. It's called the SaaS Ideas Engine. So, every morning my Hermes agent actually goes to many of these different places here, like Reddit, X, Twitter, Hacker News, a lot of these websites, and even Google Trends, and basically give me 10 SaaS ideas. And these are not just some random ideas, but I actually put some filters here. And also, what it's doing is actually going to all these websites and reading all the forums, figuring out what people are complaining about, and see if there's any opportunity for me to create an app. And I think that's one of the strengths of Hermes here. It's able to actually go do research and open any website, just like any human can do. And obviously, this kind of research will take you hours, especially if you're doing it yourself. And if you have to do it every single morning, right? And I just want to show you how detailed the research actually is. So, if I click on any of these ideas, like maybe this one, pray to unlock habit app here. So, it found that there's an opportunity here, and it gave me a summary of the opportunity, and also the competing apps and how much they're making, and kind of the history of how this app actually went from zero to $30,000 a month. And from the analysis, it gave me what it thinks they're missing based on what it's read from the forums. And if I scroll down here, it actually cross-checked with Google Trends, see if the trend is still on a rising trajectory, and gave me the recommendation here. And let's say if I want to build this out, I can just click on this button here and build an MVP with low code. So, now of course, it's not going to give you a full production-ready app with just one click of a button, but it actually gives you an MVP or prototype of what the app's going to look like, and then you can refine it from there. But the point here, you can imagine the speed to market, right? You have this advantage here because the research is done for you every single morning. And because it's doing it on a daily basis, this information that I get is also fresh. It's not some story that you read a couple years ago, but it's relevant for today. And one more thing to point out, if you don't like any of these ideas here, I do have a button to dismiss the idea. And what this will do is actually train Hermes on what you like and what you don't like. So, this is kind of the thing that I mentioned earlier in the video that it will actually learn what you like and what you don't like the more that you use it. So, the more that you interact with the data here, the better it knows your preferences. All right, so now you know that Hermes is really good at doing research, especially if you set like a schedule or a cron job. And I also have Hermes grab the latest AI news for me every single morning here. As you can see here, this also runs every single morning at 8:00. And I ask it to do research on the latest news from this particular websites here. So, if I zoom in here, you can see that it actually went through 50 Reddit threads and went through 128 articles and give me 10 stories for today. And this is not just some random AI news, but I've set some filters so the news is relevant for me, right? So, if I find one that's relevant, I can either turn this into a video or I can grab the news, I can add it to my newsletter. And because it runs every single day, everything is fresh and it's just saves me a lot of time from doing manual research. It presents all the data for me to analyze and then I can just approve it. So, anytime of the day when I'm wondering, "Hey, what's happening with AI?" I can just say something like, "Hey, what's going on today with AI?" And then it will give you that information summarized here. All right. So, last but not least, this is basically my YouTube dashboard. So, I actually built this with Hermes as well. And I've connected my YouTube channel through an API. So, it's actually able to analyze the back-end analytics of my YouTube account, right? So, it's going to be able to pull all this data, how many subscribers I have, what are my top videos, what's my winning format, and how many comments I've been getting in the last week. And I think the most useful part of this is that Hermes is actually going into my YouTube videos and reading hundreds of comments in my videos and gives me a summary of what my audience is thinking about, right? And I think this is something that I wouldn't be able to do manually. It would take so much time. But with this agent, it's able to pull in all the comments. And if I scroll down here, it actually gives you like a priority list of what my audience is asking for. What are most people struggling with? And I think this is really, really good data to have. So, I can grab these questions and I can potentially answer them in my future videos. Again, this is something I wouldn't do or I wouldn't have time for if I had to do everything manually. And the other thing that I was impressed with is that it was able to go into my retention graph of my videos. And again, this is very technical, but it was able to spot where in my videos my viewers were dropping off. Maybe there are parts of the video where it's boring, and it's able to cross-check what I was talking about during those points and gave me analysis on why those things might be boring. And I think this is really good data, so maybe my intro is too long, maybe there are parts where it's just it's too technical. I'm able to see all these insights here. And last but not least, I have just added this section here, but basically analyzing my competitors in my niche. What videos are working for them, so I can kind of see whether or not I want to take those ideas and create my own version. And I think this is going to be super useful for any creator on YouTube or Instagram or any of these platforms to see what's working and figure out whether it's also valuable for the audience. All right, so tell me in the comments if you guys are already using Hermes and what have you been using it for? And if you guys want me to create more videos around Hermes, let me know in the comments as well, and make sure you subscribe so you don't miss those videos when they come out. Again, thanks for watching. I'll see you in the next video.
